About the Atlantic Twig

In June of 2021, the Newfoundland & Labrador twig merged with the Nova Scotia twig to form the Atlantic twig of Editors Canada, aka Editors Atlantic.

Our group has approximately 60 members, Editors Canada members in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland & Labrador.

Twenty-one people attended our first joint meeting by Zoom on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.

We currently have two co-chairs: Heather White and Melanie Pitman (of Halifax and West Porter’s Lake, NS, respectively). Our email address is atlantic@editors.ca.

We are revisiting what our members are looking for from the group, with a view to enhancing community benefits. The loose plan is to keep Zoom professional development events — Zoom eliminates distance, enabling our far-flung members to easily meet — but also focus more on local, in-person events, post-pandemic. For example, one of our smaller subgroups, the Wolfville Editors’ Bunch, had met for lunch regularly pre-pandemic; we hope to support this and other get-togethers as an antidote to working remotely from home, in isolation.

In 2022, we created a new Editors Atlantic website that combines the information of both twigs, helping to reinforce our distinctive regional identity.
